
Celia Drill (formerly Homesley) grew up in Santa Cruz, California. She attended Humboldt State University where she studied with the poet Judith Minty and was thrice the recipient of The Jodi Stutz Memorial Prize for Poetry. She went on to obtain an MFA in poetry from San Francisco State University where she studied predominantly with the poet and novelist Frances Mayes.

Celia has taught creative writing and English courses at many colleges and universities in California. She is also a behavioral therapist and owner of Positive Change Behavioral, Inc., based in California, as well as former owner of Waves of Light Mystical Boutique in Venice, Florida.

Her collections of poetry are: Body of Crimson Leaves, published by Backwaters Press in 2006, Awake Through Dreams, published by Little Red Tree Press in 2018, for which she was the recipient of the Venice Quebodeaux "Pathways" Poetry Prize for Women, and The Lost World, published by Atmosphere Press in 2025.

Celia is an eternal learner, traveler, and explorer who enjoys the company of like-minded souls. She continues to mentor and teach creative writers and is known to hold office hours at coffee shops or bars wherever she may find herself.
